A Policemans Dilemma
Having been a Policeman for about fourteen years, I am aware there is a lot of distrust and fear of us. I must tell you ,were not any different than the average person . By that I mean we have families we care about , dreams we want to fulfill and live in a safe environment . I can tell you our biggest fear is running into someone we’ve arrested and our family members are with us .
Which is why most police would like to live in a different city then where they work.
In the city where I work we don’t have that privilege and people live with a false security , not realizing ,we would rather they call the police that are on duty , then jeopardize our families safety ,by this I mean when we get involved with a dangerous element in our own neighborhood we risk reprisal from the bad guy, at his discretion [now he knows where we live] , by that I mean something as serious as a drive by shooting into the house or damage to our property. Which is another reason to live in an adjacent city. Unfortunately by the nature of our job ,we mostly experience the bad element of our society and because of that we can become a little jaded in our outlook and humor. For the most part though , at least for me, I am not out to ruin anybodies day. Our motto “To protect and serve” is our main goal every day. When I have helped someone in need ,I feel I’ve done my job and I hope they feel the same. My dream is to be an internet success and leave police work to younger men.
